Kyoto Pictures

Here are some pictures from Kyoto.

It's a huge city with a vibrant heritage. It still has its western influences however, we actually had a beer last night at a tiny funky Japanese bar that was playing The Beatles. Sadly, the only people who could understand the lyrics were Danny and I. We haven't killed each other yet, and relations have been less strained since we happened to meet two Italian women who were travelling through Japan and were also utterly mesmerized by the place.

We'll check in again soon.

Ja ne!

and lastly, here are some more kids that came up to us:

Koyasan

We just left our hotel room after eating a delicious vegetarian breakfast of tofu, vegetables that we cant quite name and lots of rice. We spent the night in the mountain top religious town of Koyasan at a Buddhist monastery named Eiko-in. The facilities are beautiful and the building is constructed in very old, solid wood.

We can both definitely get used to the monastic lifestyle! Its quite a change from engineering!

We are off to walk around the village for a little longer before heading out to Kyoto.
